History : The Bentley Continental R was unveiled in 1991 after six years of development and it became an instant success. Its stylish sports coupe coachwork captured the imagination of Bentley enthusiasts and the orders flooded in. The success of the Continental R and the slightly sportier Continental T made it inevitable that a convertible variant would be developed and in 1995 Sergio Pininfarina was approached and given the task of styling the Bentley Continental R convertible which became known as the Azure. Steady development and improvements were issued to this successful model until the cessation of production in 2003 when just twelve cars were built, known as the Bentley Azure ?Final Series.? However in 2005 an all new Bentley convertible was unveiled and the name Azure was given a new lease of life when production began in 2006. The new design borrowed a number of aspects from the Arnage R including the basic platform, power output and dashboard layout. Designers of the new model also arguably improved upon the original design with its stylish yet sporty appearance, a more spacious interior layout, especially the rear seating area and a much larger boot compartment, capable of somewhere in the region of twice the storage space when compared to the earlier production examples. The ?new? Azure also boasted a twin turbo charged engine with intercooler capable of 450 bhp and a top speed of almost 170mph. Its performance on the road is nothing short of exceptional. This particular car is a one owner example that has travelled just over 14,000 miles from new. It has an excellent service history and will be freshly serviced in our workshops prior to delivery to its next fortunate owner. It is in excellent condition throughout and should be seen in person and driven to be fully appreciated.
