Ferrari 250 PF CabThe association of Pininfarina with production Ferraris began with a batch of exclusive and beautiful Series I Cabriolet's and were Ferrari?s open-topped version of the Tour de France Berlinetta. The cars incorporated the same Tipo 508 tubular steel ladder type chassis as the Tour de France and the Colombo-derived 60? V12 featured with the familiar 2953cc displacement producing an output of between 220 and 240bhp at 7000rpm. Outstandingly beautiful, 250 GT Cabriolet's were more delicate than the later scaglietti bodied California Spyder's and combined many period details that make coachbuilt Ferrari's so desirable. Features were the creased front wings and gorgeous covered headlights, an egg crate grille (often being filled with auxillary driving lights), an elegant chrome-lipped engine scoop fed cool air to the motor and the rear wings incorporating a kick-up just behind the doors. Like at the front, the rear wings were also creased, these sloping gently to the elegant tail beneath where four chrome-tipped exhaust outlet pipes lay. The interior of the Series I Cabriolet's struck a perfect balance between luxury and performance; cabin appointments providing clients with a very comfortable experience with fine leather and carpeting mixing perfectly with Competizione components of the day. A wood-rimmed triple aluminium spoked Nardi steering wheel would normally be combined with a crackle black dash, a flip-up Pinin Farina ashtray and heavily cowled instrumentation all having been executed in the finest period style. This example offered for sale by DK engineering was originally supplied in tropical black with red leather interior by Luigi Chinetti in 1958. This is one of the last produced and sports a rare and more elegant full-width rear bumper aswell as stunning chrome vents in the front wings. This represents a rare opportunity to acquire a totally restored ?needs nothing? example of the most elegant and rarest production Ferrari cabriolet built to date.
