The very last of the model benefits from an all syncromesh gearbox and later improved (optional) power steering as specified with this car. Usually, the trade off with a late S Type is the inferior quality trim fitted to Jaguar?s post 1967 medium range saloons; but not so with this special car. There are three files providing the most complete and fascinating documented history and correspondence includes a request from the first owner to Jaguar (which was granted) that the car?s interior be finished with the deep pile carpeting and leather which had been technically discontinued. In this respect, the car is almost certainly unique. We first supplied this S Type nearly sixteen years ago and have known it since- the mileage from new is 58,000. It was featured on the front cover and inside Robert Hughes book published by Blandford in 1997. This is one of the best surviving examples of an S Type which drives beautifully. Finished in Opalescent Silver Grey with London Tan hide. Its already graceful lines are further enhanced by chrome wire wheels which are a sought after addition.
