This exquisite Lancia Aurelia B50 Pininfarina Convertible dates from 1951 and is understood to have been the Geneva Motor Show Car as displayed on the Pininfarina stand. Coachbuilders of the period were renowned for enhancing their show cars and on this example it boasts a few intricate and tasteful enhancements such as the chrome accents on the rear fenders, exhaust covers and cut glass detailed turn signal lenses which help to subtly distinguish this vehicle. It was reputedly purchased by an English woman directly off the stand in Geneva and she kept the car until 1953. The second owner was a gentleman from Virginia who imported the car into the USA and kept it until his passing in 1995. Then Inherited by his son, it was he who relayed the Geneva Show and England links when he sold the car in 1998. It was purchased in original, running but tired condition in 1999 by professional Los Angeles based restorer Rick Fitzgerald as a personal project. Over the following 6 years he painstakingly restored it to an uncompromising standard amongst his other restoration projects for his other clients. Such was the attention to detail that upon completion he was invited to show the car at the 2005 Pebble Beach Concours D?Elegance where he took a highly credible third in class amongst stiff and varied competition. Purchased by the current Californian owner in 2006, it has covered approximately 300 miles in his tenure, he has merely fettled the car to eradicate even the most minute of teething flaws and used it sparingly and it genuinely remains restoration fresh as one would expect.
