The Delta S4 was arguably the most ambitious Group B rally car as its 1800cc inline 4 cylinder engine benefited from both a turbocharger and a supercharger thus ensuring as smooth a power delivery as possible. Similar to other Group B supercars it competed against it had a steel spaceframe chassis clothed in a composite body and weighing in at less than 900kgs with over 450bhp on tap it was a phenomenal competitor, always at the forefront of the formula. Ordered by wealthy privateer, Ignacio Sunsundegui this example is effectively a rally prepared road derivative as one can easily identify by the presence of some of the beige alcantara interior and its option colour of metallic red paintwork. Sunsundegui competed this S4 in 1986 Monte Carlo Rally where he sadly retired. Later that year he also competed in the Scottish Rally. Having been in the collection for many years it has seen only limited use since active competition and remains staggering original throughout. An engine service was undertaken by Terry Hoyle around 1999/2000 since when it has been in dry storage. UK registered, this is a rare chance to acquire an S4 Delta with period WRC history. Petrol
