A short history lesson to begin with, as the Studebaker Hawk first appeared in 1956 and its forward thinking designlines were the work of the designers Raymond Loey and Robert Bourke. For the 1961 lineup another famed designer Brooke Stevens gave the Hawk a masterful re-design with what was considered then to be a modern up-date thereby creating the ?Gran Turismo? version that was built and sold between 1962 and 1964. In keeping with its sporty lines, mechanically the GT Hawk featured a powerful 289 cubic inch V8 producing 210 hp and had front disc brakes, heavy-duty springs and sway bars. This late example, chassis number 64V-3463 (one of only about 1,500 sold in ?64) is finished in the desirable color scheme of black exterior and red interior and has only had two owners from new. In addition the mileage from new is a mere 52,000. Acquired by the current owner from the estate of the first owner in the mid 1980s, the car was subject to a major cosmetic restoration in the late 1980s. The car has been barn stored for many years and only very occasionally driven in the summer months. Generally this Gran Turismo seems extremely sound and straight.PLEASE CONTACT US FOR ANY FURTHER INFORMATION AND PRICING Petrol
