Still fitted with its original 1232cc Coventry Climax engine and 'freewheel' gearbox, this rare 75 year old was registered new in Devon and there it has stayed apart from a brief 3 year interlude in South Wales. The original Exeter registration number BFJ 54 remains with the car and it is fitted with an original (presumably from new) Weathershield period sunroof.
It requires full restoration- mechanicals/body/paint/interior trim. However, everything is there and has not been 'improved' by anyone in the past. The aluminium panels which form the upper part of the bodyshell have been stripped of paint and are in a good state of preservation whilst the chassis appears sound with only surface rust evident. Alternatively, it could be made into an interesting open Gloria Special of which several exist and are also sanctioned by the club.
As regards the price, whilst this company is against the removal of any original number plate from a classic car, the market for private plates appealing to wealthy egos is a fact of life. The price - which is firm- reflects the inherent value of the number plate which it is strongly recommended be left on this car!
